Yesterday, in Worldwide Developer Conference Apple released a suite of new search features coming to iOS 9. This new suite of search features includes –
Apple Maps –
iOS 6 will be having an upgraded version of Apple Maps with similar intelligence that you found in Siri Suggestions. As your device gets to know where you move out during the day, Apple Maps will give you quick access to the locations you frequently travel. Apple Map’s suggestions will modify throughout the day. For instance, in the morning time you will be suggested with your workplace or jogging point, whereas in the evening it will suggest you with nearby restaurant or gym.
In-App Deep Linking –
In-App deep linking allows you to search for content contained in installed app, like restaurant reservations, and be showcased with information from an app fixed in your phone, ‘Open Table’. Finding information enclosed in first party apps is also going to be quicker than ever.
Siri Suggestions –
While surfing through the iOS, the most prominent change that you will notice is the Former Spotlight search. Dragging down or swiping right on the home screen will take you to the new search screen, just titled ‘Search’ where you will be offered with apps, contacts and lots of other things that you usually access through your mobile device.
Expect this kind of suggestions as Siri learns a lot about how you use your device. If you are finding it a lot like Google Now on Android devices, no you are not wrong. The main difference is Apple’s emphasis on securing user data – any personal data Siri receives will be sent through the internet secretly.
In Apple’s new search screen, you will see a section dedicated to suggested headlines you might be interested in based on the on-going news of the day.
The rest of the features, which you have already used in iOS will remain the same in the coming update. As of now, iOS 9 is available only for registered developers, and by the start of July it will be available for public beta testers. Once the beta testing period will end, iOS 9 will be available for all the users.
