Google Officially Displays Tweets In Search Results

Google has made it official to display the twitter content in its desktop search results. Google had begun testing with displaying content from Twitter in desktop results. In May, Google already had begun showing Tweets in mobile search results.

Similar to mobile search results, Google will now show Tweets in a carousel in the main column of the organic search results. The tweets only show when Google thinks them to be pertinent. Users do not need a Twitter account to see the results or click on the results.

Google also stated that,  ranking & relevancy factor for the tweets in the search will continue to evolve and improve as the process matures.  In the current scenario, there is no promotional component involved for showing the Tweets in the organic search results.

Google Buy Button And Many More Upcoming Mobile Enhancements

Since a long time, talks were going on about the Google buy button and finally it has been introduced by the search giant Google at its Retail Leadership Summit in New York.  The Google Buy Button will allow consumers to make buy directly from Google, which will contain the retailer-branded pages, things such as marketing, fulfillment, returns and these pages will be managed by the individual merchants. This new addition will be available from next month. With a buy button feature, Google desires to make life easier for mobile shoppers.

President of product management for Google Shopping, Jon Alferness says, I just forget wherever I am, when I am shopping on my mobile phone; it becomes ubiquitous against the real outside life.

Moreover, he adds that over the last year, there has been a 115% rise in shopping searches. To stay in touch with the growing mobile world, Google will be releasing other features in the coming future, such as –

The usage of Mobile Voice Search has been doubled as compared to last year. Searchers looking for a particular product will see Google Now Cards along with product reviews or attributes gathered from all around the internet. Google Now Price Drop Cards aware users about the significant fluctuation of prices!

The location has become an essential part of people’s online shopping, specifically with mobile; Google Now In-Store Cards will give information about particular locations, with listed inventory feeds incorporated into the search. In case you are located near a Home Depot and pull up Google Now, the In-Store Card will display you the information of that exact store location: closing hours, loyalty programs, and sales. Alferness adds that this feature is Google hosted but locally branded.

Currently Google is working with retailers – early testers like Flipkart and eBay – to deep link to their apps in shopping ads, pulling consumers to their apps in spite of their websites.

Head of Global mobile sales and strategy at Google, Jason Spero said, 93% of shopping takes place offline, still mobile plays an important role. Last year, Deloitte expected that mobile devices influenced 28% or $1 trillion worth of in-store purchases. For instance, Local Inventory Ads encouraged Sears’ in-store visits by 122%, while 1/3 of search ad clicks impacted in a visit to Target during vacation time last year.

He adds that, shopping doesn’t start when you enter in the store; however the experience of shopping at Target starts early on a mobile device when you actually start searching for the store.

Google I/O Unveiled Android M With Some Amazing Features

Google I/O 2015

Google has finally unveiled Android M, the latest Android version in its yesterday’s annual Google I/O developer conference. Today the pre-release version of Android M will be introduced for developers and by the end of this year the full version will release. As per Sundar Pichai, this new version will majorly focus on developing the usability and stability of the platform. There will be a lot of importance to the quality of platform other than a new look.

The previews will be available only on Google Nexus 5, 9, 6 and Nexus Player.

While talking at Google I/O, Google’s vice president of engineering David Burke said, Google is preparing to assimilate a lot of features that they have seen device makers add on to Android. He suggested, with Android M they are concentrating on other six major areas.

App Permissions –

The App permissions have got an impressive add on, where Google has decided to let people decide which kind of permissions they want to revoke or allow, based on when those certain functions are used. Unlike, the existing implementations, where users have to agree to all the app permissions while installing it first time. In Android M, users will receive notifications probing for permissions only when they are utilizing a specific feature in an app.

Android Pay –

Android Pay, a new feature got introduced in yesterday’s event allows you to make the payments using near-field communication and host card emulation method for tap-to-pay services. To use this feature, you just have to unlock your phone, keep it close to an NFC terminal and the payment is done, without initiating any app. Google states, when you put your card details, a virtual account number gets created to make the payments. Don’t worry; your actual card number won’t be shared with the store while doing a transaction.

App Linking –

Currently, Android is supporting the app linking system, called as Intents that gives you the option to open a specific web link in a web browser or an app. Earlier, if you wanted to open a link, after clicking on it, you got a quick pop-up box asking whether you want to open it in your browser or in the Twitter app that is already installed on your phone. In the backend, Android M will confirm the link with the app’s server and post-authentication it will move to open the link in the app itself without questioning you where you wish to open the link.

Fingerprint Support –

Android M will regulate the fingerprint sensor support and it is working with different phones to make a standard API to function with their sensors. You can use the Fingerprint support to unlock your smart device, Android Pay transaction or do Play Store purchases.

Power Management –

Android M is going to have a smart power-managing feature called as ‘Doze’. This feature allows the system optimally manage the background processes. The operating system keeps a track on the motion detection sensor and in case there is no activity for a much time, the system stops some processes. As per Google, Power Management has supported to improve the standby-time on the Nexus 9 by almost 2 times over the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Google’s new Android M will also support to USB Type-C for charging. Moreover, considering USB Type-C has a bi-directional port, you can utilize this port to either charge up your phone as well as another device.

Google To Include ‘Buy Button’ To Search Results In Coming Weeks

Google Buy Button

In a recent time, Google is going to add a ‘buy’ button, which will allow people to buy specific products directly from its search results pages. A report released in the Wall Street Journal stated that initially Google’s buy button will be placed in mobile search, and will be located alongside paid search ads and not in organic search listings.

WSJ’s unidentified sources have clarified how the buy button will perform. When you will click on the buy button, you will be directed to a different Google page to fill out the ordinary purchase. Then you fill in your payment information directly to Google, where the purchase order will be transferred to the retailer to be satisfied.

This news points out another evidence of Google planning to be your one-stop solution for everything to get web pages, to buying products, to ordering takeout.

As Google is growing into the online retail space, it is going to become a major threat for current industry leaders such as eBay and Amazon. Even small scale retailers aren’t happy with this move. Some of the retailers are sharing their concerns privately that it will damage their brand identity and business revenue as the majority of customers will place orders through Google page rather than the retailer’s site.

With the help of this program, retailers will still hold the chance to approach customers to opt-in to their brand marketing campaigns, also gather customer information. Google will preserve all customer payment information before carry forwarding the sale to the retailer.

In spite of having a share of the retailer’s sales price, just like eBay and Amazon, Google will continue to be waged by retailers through its current advertising model. As of now, Google has not commented anything on its buy button, so the news is still unofficial and yet to be confirmed.

Google To Introduce New Product For Connecting Searchers With Local Services

Google New Product For Local Services

As per the reports released by Buzzfeed, Google the search giant is planning to introduce a new product for connecting people directly to regional service providers. The new product will be developed right into a Google search with little bit AdWords integration as well. It is supposed to be developed to interpret a searcher’s objective and match them up with a home service provider, which can help them.

Hence, for example, if you are looking for the closest electrician then Google will spot it and connect you to the right local business. As of now that’s all we know.  The details are limited. Google has refused to comment on it. At ‘an advertising conference’ the details about the product will be revealed.

This news has leaked at a peculiar time, as just recently Google invested in a startup, which already does exactly the same thing what Google’s future product is going to do. Google recently headed a $100 million investment into the local services company named ‘Thumbtack’, which is planning to expand into the local services segment.

Now, after less than a year, Google realizes its investment in a company serving a competitive product. Moreover, just few days back Amazon introduced a similar kind of local service product that is surely going to show a threat to what Google ultimately releases.

Need not to say, however, race in the local services space is going to heat up this year among the two biggest companies in the world to move ahead with same offerings.

5 Trends To Follow In The Mobile-First Search Era

Google First Mobile Search Trend

The new figures released by eMarketer reflect the developing mobile era with estimations that mobile advertising spend will be twofold of desktop spend by 2017 and by 2019. Mobile will have 72% of share in the total digital ad spend.  Ideally, this should not surprise you as mobile is on the top in the list of where consumers spend their majority of time. As per the research done by comScore, 60% of time online is spent on mobile, the majority of activities happen within apps.

The transforming behavior of the audience is dictating a retargeting of search strategy. At the start of this year, it was predicted that 2015 is going to be “the year of the consumer” and as we can see, the modern consumer’s demands are changing the whole market structure.

Google’s Prominence On Mobile Friendliness

Mobile search rankings are about to become a bit friendlier. On 21st April, Google will be extending its ranking signals to account for mobile friendliness. While, there has been no sign of responsive design being measured over mobile-specific sites, it’s evident that marketers have to make hurry to have a mobile friendly site. Consider the pros and cons of your mobile friendliness approach and work accordingly, as Google comments this change will have ‘prominent effect’ on search results.

The App Outburst

Talking about apps, this new innovation is just a one part of the game. To actually make benefit out of it, you must have the right tools in place to track and measure beyond the installation. This way you can grow customer lifetime value in the mobile world.

Today’s mobile consumer demands convenience, speed and specialty apps, which will fulfill their particular needs. Yahoo is also attempting to capitalize on app activity by serving its own SDK to incorporate Yahoo Search within apps.

Bing’s Moves Towards Mobile

Early in March 23, Bing ads released an upgrade to Unified Device Targeting. Similar to Google’s shift to Enhanced Campaigns, through Bing update the campaigns will be targeted on all the devices by default. With this update we got to know it first time that it is essential to be active in monitoring and optimizing your bid according to changing trends.

The Native Play

The mobile layout, with its endless scroll, is extremely conductive for a seamless incorporation of in-stream advertising. Not just does native represent a contextually engaging and friendly experience but it also looks to go with register possibilities in an otherwise restricted mobile search-scape.

Google Reforms Google Flights Search To Provide Best Deal

Google Flight Search

The vacation season is round the corner, as a result Google has started experiencing a rise in travel-related searches. In relation to the same, the search giant has launched a series of updates to its Google Flights service developed to make it easy for you to plan out your next trip.

If you are eager to find a good deal, then there is a no ‘best day’ to travel, claims Google. You can get good deals on any another day of the week that is workable if you are flexible with the travel dates.

To easily do a comparison between the costs of travelling on the day to day basis, you can use the Google Flights calender that shows the price for travelling on every day with the best deal highlighted. If you are planning a trip further then Google has lists of prices, where you can use the lowest price graph to somehow correctly predict how prices will fluctuate from month to month.

Moreover, you can adjust flight preferences, like direct flights only, see flight prices, which meet your demand. If you have done with your selections, but Google finds there is a cheaper rates available, it will lead you to the cheaper dates or cheaper routes just to provide you the best deal and make you satisfied with what have have selected.

According to Google, over half of the searchers don’t have an idea where they exactly want to travel, they just want to go on a vacation. With the help of Google Flights, you just need to type your need in search terms such as “Flights to Mexico” or “Flights to Europe” and get a list of prices for travelling to various cities within the mentioned regions.

Remember, cheapest is not always good, especially when it comes to travelling. A lot of time, going the cheap by the route means numerous connections in spite of none. That’s the reason Google Flights has long released the ‘Best Flights’ feature, which helps you to find the best combination of convenience and price.
